★作者二三事

∞爸爸是人類學家，啟發她對社會人類學的興趣，並影響後來的寫作。

∞和科幻小說家菲利普．狄克是高中同學。

∞曾到法國留學，並結識未來的丈夫，社會學家查爾斯‧勒瑰恩。

∞媽媽是作家，耳濡目染之下她十一歲就投稿第一篇創作到驚奇科幻小說（Astounding Science Fiction），不過被退稿了。

∞早期的創作以描述幻想國度的非小說為主，後來的《轉機》也是這種風格。

∞三十多歲開始創作科幻小說，並開始常見於出版界。

∞勒瑰恩是第一個以同樣二本書（《黑暗的左手》和《一無所有》）「同時」獲得星雲獎和雨果獎的作家。

英國瑞汀大學（University of Reading）「兒童青少年文學」碩士，曾任主編與大學講師。譯有《地海巫師》、《地海古墓》、《地海彼岸》、《44號神祕怪客》、《河豚活在大海裡》、《妖精的孩子》等小說，以及《愛孩子，愛自己》、《對抗生命衝擊的女人》、《了解人性》等心理學書籍；並編寫《光明行第一集》、《尋找天堂的天使》等兒童福利相關書籍。

巴黎美國大學比較文學∕企業傳播系畢業，加州柏克萊大學資訊管理與系統碩士。旅居新加坡、巴黎多年，2002年起定居美國舊金山。目前任職於矽谷高科技公司，從事VoIP市場開發、產品介面設計與技術文件撰寫。熱愛文學、旅行與舞蹈，並擔任美國Nefertem舞團舞者。酷愛奇幻與科幻文學十數年，最大希望是繼續將美國重量級奇幻與科幻作品帶入台灣。譯作有《地海孤雛》、《地海故事集》、《地海奇風》、「星際大戰」系列之《昔日幽魂》、《未來之光》（上、下）、《龍魘》等。
