This book examines the life and work of Rashid al-Din Tabib (d. 1318), the most powerful statesman working for the Mongol Ilkhans in the Middle East.

Dr. Kamola is a scholar of the Iranian world in the period surrounding the Mongol conquests. He is particularly interested in how repeated waves of nomadic invasion between 1000 and 1260 CE inspired new ways of thinking about the past, new artistic expressions, and new forms of religious belief and practice.
