美国当代著名科幻作家，毕业于加利福尼亚大学圣迭戈分校，获空间物理博士学位。

布林最有名的作品当属太空歌剧“提升”系列，该系列由《太阳潜入者》《星潮汹涌》《提升之战》《光明礁》《无限的海岸》和《天空的距离》六部小说组成。其中，《星潮汹涌》获世界科幻大奖星云奖和雨果奖，《提升之战》获雨果奖。

除创作科幻小说外，布林还为一百多家政府机构和企业担任顾问，并一直活跃在电视与广播的多种科普节目中。2007年8月，布林曾作为嘉宾出席中国（成都）国际科幻/奇幻大会，并发表精彩演讲，其渊博的学识和幽默的个性给中国读者留下了深刻印象。
