Michael Schudson,当代美国最具影响力的媒介社会学学者之一,资深教授。现任美国加州大学(圣迭戈)传播学教授、哥伦比亚大学新闻学院教授。主要研究方向为新闻学及其历史、大众文化。著有:Discovering the News(1978)、The Power of News(1995)、The Good Citizen(1998)、The Sociology of News(2003)等多部论著。其中《发掘新闻》为他的成名作,开创了美国新闻史研究的社会科学流派,三十年来历久不衰。
