理查德·内德·勒博（Richard Ned Lebow），美国著名政治学家，英国伦敦大学国王学院战争研究系国际政治理论教授、剑桥大学彭布罗克学院联合研究员，曾任美国达特茅斯学院詹姆斯·弗里德曼首席教授；曾就读于芝加哥大学、耶鲁大学和纽约城市大学，之后在美国海军学院和战争学院讲授战略学，并长期担任北约防务学院和伦敦皇家国防研究学院客座教授；在过去60年的学术生涯中共出版、发表35部著作和250多篇文章，并获得美英等国多项学术荣誉头衔和称号，主要代表作除本书外还有《我们都输掉了冷战》（1994）、《国际关系的文化理论》（2008）、《国家为何而战？过去与未来的战争动机》（2010）以及《避免战争，缔造和平》（2017）等。
