Method in Social Science-轻识

Method in Social Science was widely praised on its first publication for providing a series of penetrating reflections on central questions in social science discourse. This second edition directly reflects new developments in the areas of philosophy and methodology. Sayer has rewritten and substantially enlarged the introduction, clarifying many of the arguments that appear in the text. There is also a short discussion of the importance of narrative form, particularly useful for students concerned with the problems of writing, composition, and presentation of their own material.</P>

Andrew Sayer

Andrew Sayer目前為英國蘭卡斯特大學（University of Lancaster）社會系的社會理論與政治經濟學教授，研究議題和學術貢獻相當廣泛，包括：在後馬克思主義與新自由主義此消彼長的脈絡下，嘗試重構政治經濟學理論；倡議「受理論啟發的具體研究」，並提出成為批判實在論重要基石的方法學概念；透過日常生活的倫理學與道德，探討道德經濟與政治經濟間的關係；對過去四十年來富人和超級富人之經濟和政治權力戲劇性擴張的分析；最近的興趣則轉向神經科學、心理學和福祉的概念。主要著作包括The New Social Economy: Reworking the Division of Labor（1992）（與Richard Walker合著）、Microcircuits of Capital: Sunrise Industry and Uneven Development（1988）（與Kevin Morgan合著）、Radical Political Economy: A Critique（1995）、Realism and Social Science（2000）、Culture and Economy after the Cultural Turn（1999）（與Larry Ray合編）、The Moral Significance of Class（2005）（陳妙芬、萬毓澤中譯，《階級的道德意義》，巨流，2011）、Why Things Matter to People: Social Science, Values and Ethical Life（2011）、Why We Can't Afford the Rich（2014）。

譯者簡介

許甘霖

英國蘭卡斯特大學社會學博士，東海大學社會系助理教授。目前研究興趣為國家理論、當代資本主義的醫療轉型及社會與團結經濟。目前嘗試透過批判實在論取徑，串連策略關係取徑（strategic-relational approach）的國家理論、Karl Polanyi的政治經濟學，以及醫療化批判，考察後發展年代的國家型態、風險政治和積累體制。

萬毓澤

國立臺灣大學社會學博士，現為國立中山大學社會學系副教授。主要學術興趣為社會理論、社會科學哲學、政治社會學、當代歐陸政治與社會思想、社會科學翻譯研究。曾獲中央研究院年輕學者研究著作獎（2013）、科技部吳大猷先生紀念獎（2011）。

楊友仁

國立臺灣大學建築與城鄉研究所博士，東海大學社會系副教授，興趣是放在馬克思主義地理政治經濟學的脈絡下，進行地理學及人類學式的跨領域研究，關懷全球資本積累、空間之社會生產與土地商品化的矛盾與協商，過去做過400多個不同社會階層人士的深訪，曾有田野熊外號。近來關切兩岸三地都市更新、富士康農民工、音樂行動主義。
