《王赓武自选集》分为“中国文明与文化传播”、“早期中国与外部世界”、“移民及其敌人”、“东南亚华人”、“民族主义与儒家”等单元，收录王赓武先生的16篇研究文章。

王赓武，1930年出生于印尼泗水，先后就读于南京中央大学、新加坡马来亚大学，获马来亚大学文学学士及硕士学位，后在英国伦敦大学亚非学院获博士学位。1963年开始先后任马来亚大学历史系讲座教授、澳大利亚国立大学远东史讲座教授，并于1986-1995年间担任香港大学校长。现为新加坡国立大学文学院教授、东亚研究所所长。主要著作有The Naihai Trade:A Study of the Early History of Chinese Trade in the South China Sea(1958);The Structure of Power in North China During the Five Dynasties(1963);China and the World since 1949:The Impact of Independence...
