雷·奥卢努加 Ré Olunuga
Ré Olunuga is a Nigerian composer of multi-genre orchestral and experimental music. With a unique approach to instrumentation that imbues his music with a stirring quality and an unmistakable sense of engagement and tactility, Ré's work spans across film & TV soundtracks to ambitious art pieces and even a dalliance with the mainstream through collaborations with commercial recording artists. Ré's is a varied career to date but above all he considers himself to be a storyteller, with music being the medium he is most strongly drawn to. His influences tend to be non-musical, like memories of how it felt to be a child wandering around his grandmother's house in Yaba or the mind-expanding sensation of reading the works of Octavia Butler and Philip K Dick. His numerous film and television credits include the Disney animated series Iwájú, the Disney feature film Rise, the BBC film Girl, Drift (Starring Cynthia Erivo, Alia Shawkat; Dir: Anthony Chen), and MTV SHUGA. His score for Girl was nominated for a BIFA award in 2023 and his score for Rise was nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award in 2022. He is founder and Artistic Director of The Lagos Philharmonic and splits his time between Los Angeles, London and Lagos.
