刘毅 Louis Hothothot
Louis Hothothot was born in China in 1986. He studied graphic design, video art, and animation at the China Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing from 2004 to 2008. He enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program at the Dutch Art Institute in 2012 and graduated in 2014. Between 2015 and 2017, Louis Hothothot studied at the Netherlands Film Academy in the Master of Film program. He works as a multimedia artist combining narrative film, video, visual art, graphic design and performance. His current project research focuses on documentary narrative and cinematic language, and his research subject concentrates on “illegal identity and authoritarian” and “family relationship”. In 2013 Louis Hothothot started a long-term collaboration with French performance artist and choreographer Artémise Ploegaerts. Louis Hothothot regularly shows his works in museums, galleries, and theaters. In Amsterdam, he has exhibited in the EYE Film Museum, Dansmakers, and the Oostblok Theater; and in the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven. Louis Hothothot is employed as an art, design and film critic and writer for magazines including “Absolute Art”, “Art & Design”, “Art World”, “New Graphic” and “Southern Metropolis Weekly”, for websites including ArtChina, the Chinese Financial Times and RNW Media. Louis Hothothot also was Volunteer of Amnesty International and We Are Here refugee corporation in Holland.
